UPDATE: Record Store Day was originally scheduled for April 19,but has been postponed until June 20 due to the spread of COVID-19.

History: Record Store Day was conceived in 2007 at a gathering of independent record store owners and employees as a way to celebrate and spread the word about the unique culture surrounding nearly 1400 independently owned record stores in the US and thousands of similar stores internationally. The first Record Store Day took place on April 19, 2008. Today there are Record Store Day participating stores on every continent except Antarctica.

RSD 2020 at Val’s: This is a day for the people who make up the world of the record store—the staff, the customers, and the artists—to come together and celebrate the unique culture of a record store and the special role independently owned stores play in our communitt. At Val’s, we will be bringing in a ton of titles exclusibe to RSD.  Get in the store early asnd snag your limited gem!  These are hot titles and will sell out fast.

Where: Val’s halla Records – 239 Harrison St in Oak Park

When: Store will open at 9:00 am and the die-hards will be lined out outside for the open.  Starting around noon, we will feature an awesome set of live music all afternoon.  Come by and celelebrate with us!
